Shabbat Committee
The goal of this committee is to provide a comfortable and relaxing environment for Shabbat celebration for a diverse community, by planning special events and finding ways to foster a positive Shabbat experiences at Hillel. To this end, the committee focuses on publicizing and coordinating the logistics of Hillel's biggest weekly event - Shabbat.

Welcoming Committee
A committee dedicated to making the Hillel community a warm and welcoming place for students and community members of all backgrounds. The Welcoming Committee also provides events specifically for first-year and transfer students. Contact:

Holidays Committee
The happening "holidaze" committee is the hottest thing to be a part of for coordinating Jewish
holiday celebrations for the entire Brown RISD community, including High Holiday services, super exciting Sukkah decorating, and poppin' Passover seders and Purim parties, as well as so much more. Contact:

Social Committee
Provides students with opportunities to get together and form lasting friendships within Hillel and beyond by hosting original mixers and group outings. Contact:

Learning Committee
Plans and organizes Jewish learning opportunities with events like classes, lecture series, lunch-and-learns. This year's programs include the weekly Thursday Night Torah, Hebrew lunches, and classes with Rabbi Rackover, as well as occasional lessons on Shabbat afternoon.

Chelsea Feuchs Tzedek/Social Justice Committee
A group dedicated to encouraging students to effect community change through a series of social justice opportunities. Contact:
Rachael Mazzella Israel Committee
The Israel Committee plans community-wide Israel-centered programming, including cultural programs, Yom Ha'atzma'ut programs, and initiatives that do not fall within the purview of any constituted student group. They also work with the leaders of Israel-oriented student groups on campus to co-ordinate Israel programming. Contact:

Jewish Cooking Club

Hillel Gallery Project
The Hillel Gallery Project is a collaborative effort of Brown and RISD students who organize and curate art exhibitions throughout the year, including juried shows of Brown and RISD students, senior shows, and many other great solo and group exhibitions.

Yarmulkazi
Yarmulkazi is Brown University's premier klezmer band. They entertain at University and community events, and recently released a brand new CD, "Get Your Goat!" Contact:

Alef Beats
The Alef Beats are Brown RISD Hillel's Jewish a capella group. Founded in 2005, they perform in English, Hebrew, and Yiddish at events around Brown University, as well as exotic locales like Brookline, MA and Brandeis University. The Beats sing a variety of traditional Jewish songs, as well as a wide range of contemporary music by Jewish singers and songwriters, from Simon & Garfunkel to Andy Samberg. They are currently recording their first CD. In addition to singing the Beats enjoy long walks on the beach, schmoozing, and bagels. Contact:
