The purpose of Brown Students for Israel (BSI) shall be to represent Brown University’s pro-Israel community and to make Brown University a tangible asset to the state of Israel through enriching programming on campus, in conjunction with other student groups when appropriate, and interaction with the U.S. political process on behalf of Israel.
Brown Students for Israel had a very exciting semester Fall 2009. First, we collected over 500 letters signed by Brown students, thanking our congressmen for supporting the Iran-Petroleum Sanctions Act, and delivered them in person to congressional offices across the state. We also sponsored a panel discussion on the International legal perspectives on the Goldstone Report. In addition, we hosted a student leaders luncheon, featuring the state of Israel's Ambassador to America, Michael Oren. This Spring, we initiated our new semester by sponsoring a party to raise money for Isra-aide, a humanitarian organization providing relief in Haiti, while raising awareness about Israel's unprecedented commitment to humanitarian assistance.
